2015 Oscar Predictions: Riddle, Mystery, Enigma, Etc.

gone-girl-oscars

It feels like I’ve been gone a long time. Since my last 2015 Oscar predictions post, a bunch of potential awards films screened and opened. (I also visited three other countries. That was fun.)

Some of those films have exited the Oscar conversation before I even had a chance to contemplate their chances. (I’m looking at you Men Women & Children and Fury.) Others are most certainly in the race for the long haul (Birdman, Whiplash). And one became a genuine cultural sensation (hey, Gone Girl).

I’ve updated my 2015 Best Picture power rankings, which look only at films/performances that are known quanitites in the Oscar race. In other words, you won’t find anything in here about Unbroken, American Sniper, or Selma just yet. I’ve also created similar pages for 2015 Best Director, 2015 Best Actress, and 2015 Best Actor—all really interesting races at this point because there isn’t a frontrunner to be found.
